I have a HP Pavilion dv7-1270us. My wireless card is an Intel WiFi Link 5100.

Running Windows Vista 64-bit, Ubuntu Linux, Linux Mint, and Fedora Linux (various releases, all), the wireless works just fine. My workplace desktop computers with wireless cards connect to the work network just fine, and all computers (except mine) connect to my home network just fine; meaning there isn't a problem with the wireless networks, nor with my network card. I try manually connecting to the network, but it cannot find it. Running diagnosis states that the adapter is disabled, and that I should turn it on via the switch on my laptop: done.

Upon installing Windows 7 64-bit, I cannot see any wireless networks (and thus, cannot connect). Re-formatted and re-installed again, checking wireless connectivity between every batch of Windows update, but it never worked.

I downloaded the latest drivers from Intel, via the Microsoft Compatibility Center (driver version 15.2.0).

There is no system restore option because it never worked to begin with, except in every other OS I've had on the computer; Microsoft Compatibility declares the card is compatible, and Device Manager shows no problems. The network card is active via the switch on my laptop.

I have an HP Pavilion DV2726ca. I had absolutely no issues upgrading to windows 10. But there is one problem I discovered after wards everytime I would put my Laptop to sleep and then waked it up and signed I would have no internet connection. I would have to right click the wifi symbol beside the clock and toubleshoot it the wizard would reset my wifi adapter and it would start working again. I wish there was a way to stop it from not being able to connect. what would make the wifi adapter need constant setting? laptop came with vista. I had windows 7 installed didn't have these issues. just wish windows 10
